So I am finally getting a chance to post about my first time going to my family reunion on my dad’s side. It was so surreal for me. It was a lot of fun seeing little bits of Providence, Rhode Island, where my dad was born.
So I was excited as we were driving to the Park where the Reunion would be held. I mean I thought I was excited until I saw this!
These were on the trees leading up to the park. They were taken down on the way out, ( I asked.) I started to cry realizing I was so close to seeing my cousins I met last year, my Uncle Roland too, he is my father’s twin. I was just unable to sit still wondering how it was going to be to meet everyone finally. Then I saw this and the kids and I were just giddy, my husband was trying to drive through all the noise.
That is when I got a little nervous as well. We pulled up to where everyone was. I was soon greeted by lots of hugs, then it was right to meeting everyone. So many names and faces of family members, it was hard to take it all in. The kids amazed me, they just went right up to their little cousins and introduced themselves and soon it was as though they had always known each other.
We had some great food, lots of fun including learning the Cupid Shuffle. After lunch we decided it was a good time for some beach fun. So off we went. Beach fun and Hermit Crabs….lots of them much to my kids delight.
My little cousins Miranda and Destiny hit it off with my daughter Camryn and Darcy. They were inseparable for the entire weekend.
It was a day to remember and it was so much fun that we decided to do it again the next day. I’ll post more pictures. The next day was when I really got to sit with family members and get to know them a little better, and hear more stories of my dad.
