Last year I found Corey Hart’s website and sent him an email just to tell him that I was happy he was back behind the scenes with the sensational Marie Christine. I also wished him Happy Father’s Day, knowing he has 4 kids like me. Imagine my delight when I got an email back, and a few others as well. Corey stepped away from the spotlight years ago to raise his 4 children with his beautiful wife Julie Masse. He left everything to be a family man. Just that endears him to his fans even more.
This past year has been so fun. Corey has a fan page on Facebook, which was really small but had grown and I imagine it will gain a lot of fans with this new track. We have these awesome Q & A’s which were coined Rapid Fire as the questions would come so fast it was hard for Corey to keep up with the answers. He nicknamed us his Caravan. We fans are the Caravanistas and we are a fun bunch. There are some of us that make me laugh and smile. It’s a great way to connect with a person you admire.
Corey has revealed a lot about himself, his childhood, opening the door a little more for us to see inside of him. Allowing us to see his family, and how close they really are. We even got to talk with Julie in one of the Rapid Fires, I hope we took it easy on her. I think she did great. I have to say its been such a joy getting to see Corey move back into old roots.
Corey just turned 50 on May 31st. My son turned 8 on the same day. He thinks its pretty cool to share his birthday with such a great guy. One of my sons birthday presents was the new single Truth Will Set U Free. It’s such a powerful song, really expressing ” You are beautiful just the way you are.” It’s a song with a lot of meaning that resonated with fans when it was originally written but even more so with the upbeat sound and the new lyrics.
New lyrics written for Matthew Sheppard. I love this new addition. “Dream a place Where there’s no more crying, Where there’s no more hiding, No cruel maligning, Shepard’s star surviving. Set you free.” His star surviving long after his death.
Paul took his name from Corey’s sign off and I have to say after everything that Paul has been through, its the perfect name for him. Love instead of hate, and bitterness after a very hard life. We all have choices in how we choose to be when life hits us hard. Paul has risen to the top. I am glad to see his glass more than half full. Brimming to the top. I wish him only good things in this new direction his life is taking.
He took a chance and reached out to Corey. And Corey reached back. The two of them are on a very special journey. It will be amazing to watch it. If you want to learn more, come to Corey’s Facebook page and get to know him, climb on board the Caravan. We’ll welcome you.
The Caravan knows this step into the spotlight is just temporary. I respect that. And I think we all feel the same in that we will take what we can get. We all know how important his family is to him. It’s not every mega star that just walks away from a musical career, but he did.
The beautiful thing is Corey is fulfilled with the kids and Julie and his decision to step back. It’s important for him to be the best dad he can be. Family comes first before anything. I think we pretty much all feel that way. In a really great way he is still the center of attention, but it now revolves around 5 very important people. I am so proud of him, of the path he took. It’s great to see him front and center, on stage, rocking out, but its also super to hear his musical influence behind the scenes.
His music is timeless and I know that because my kids love his music too.
With Julie and the kids,, this new path back in the spotlight though for a little while has been tread carefully. So Corey’s children don’t feel their dad will disappear. He is very careful and we his fans know there will be no cross country tours. We know he wants to be where his family is.
Corey I wish you a great time tonight on stage. Introducing your music to new people and of course to the old ones who knew you when. I wanted to wish you a Very Happy Canada Day, tonight will be a great way to kick it off. I am sure being onstage after all this time will be like slipping into your favorite pair of blue jeans.
If any of my readers are in the Toronto area go and see Corey perform tonight. You’ll be happy you did.
I wanted to write this post about you not because of your fame, or your music. I wanted to write about your heart. How you let us in, and really allow us to get to know you is incredible. You are truly the King of Harts. Canada has it’s own King of Harts and he is back for a little while to share the love. One Love.
Oh P.S. I’m still waiting for my nickname. 😉
Stay Positive and Pampered
