Eating Clean in 2013. I began my clean eating journey eight weeks ago. I was having stomach problems and after talking at great length with my good friend Stephanie from Good Girl Gone Green I decided to try and see if it would help me. I had an appointment with a Gastroenterologist at the end of November. So I began clean eating on November first.
By the time I had my appointment my symptoms had started to disappear. I had lost weight. I had kicked my sugar habit quite successfully. I was feeling super. The doctor gave me to go ahead to continue with clean eating as he does not believe in medication. I also have to go for blood tests to rule out a gluten or dairy intolerance.
So what is clean eating you may be wondering? It’s pretty simple. Eating as close to nature as possible. That means nothing refined or processed. Now that can be tricky because in this day and age some would argue that everything is refined even whole grains. For me it simply means no white sugar, white flour, white pasta, white rice. It means eating foods that have five ingredients or less that I can actually pronounce and know what they are.
Fresh vegetables & fresh fruit. Chicken, turkey, some cuts of beef. Most clean eaters won’t eat beef or pork. I still eat beef on occasion. I also eat fish and seafood. It’s been challenging to make the recipes I used to eat clean but it’s been very rewarding as well. It’s a way of life for me, not a diet. I have more energy and I feel so much better.
In almost 9 weeks I have lost 22 pounds. I have lost inches from head to toe. I have lost two pant sizes. What I haven’t lost is my passion to continue on this journey. I have decided to share it with you. I will be posting weekly clean recipes to show anyone who is curious about this how easy it is to make a change. Of course adding some physical fitness to my new lifestyle is key as well. A potent combination.
I will be using my Vitamix as well as my new Kitchen Aid mixer. Two very handy tools for me that are fairly new in my kitchen. I will also be adding video’s this year to my blog which should be fun. So with a glass half full here’s to 2013 and more eating clean.
