#UnoAnytime is a fun hashtag that is following Cody Simpson around the world. I had the fantastic opportunity to take my daughter to an #UnoAnytime VIP experience with Cody Simpson & play #Uno with him backstage. We met the winners in front of the Metropolis. They were anxious and excited but looking forward to a great evening.
It’s pretty amazing to me that a game invented in 1971, the same year I was born, is still as popular as ever. The appeal is that it travels easy, and you can play it anywhere, anytime. You can follow the hashtag #UnoAnytime as Cody plays his fantastic tunes, and this fun game on his world tour.
Meeting Cody was exciting and my daughter was thrilled. She is only twelve and at the meet and greet Cody asked her about high school, gave her a big hug. My daughter took it all in stride. I’ve taught my kids that no matter who they meet, people are just like they are. Human. I think this experience taught her that first hand. A fantastic first ever VIP Experience.
The game was on, and I have to say Cody and his team have mad Uno skills. It was our Montreal girls versus Cody and his team. We tried our best but you can clearly see by playing Uno all over the world, these guys have harnessed their Uno playing talent and I’m sad to say, we lost. My daughter is a competitive one and told me later she would love a rematch!
Cody was sweet, and offered to take selfies with all the girls. A total selfie king, in no time we were saying goodbye and being ushered back to find seats for the concert but not before we asked Cody to sign one of our Uno wildcards.
While my daughter and I waited we of course played Uno. We decided that Cody’s signed Uno wildcard would be a pick up 8, just for fun. Thanks Cody and know whoever gets the pick up 8 card won’t be smiling.
Jackson Harris opened for Cody and he was wonderful. The crowd loved him. He was so thoughtful to have Montreal sing Happy Birthday to his sister, while he filmed it on his phone.
When Cody came onstage Metropolis went wild. It was so hard to hear amid all the screams. Cody’s set was solid. He even performed songs for the parents who attended that night which was a really nice touch. He thanked the old fans, welcomed the new, and gave a nod of gratitude to the parents who were there for their kids. Very classy.
One thing I did love and totally understood was that Cody, on this tour, is doing it not only for his fans, but I got the feeling that he is finally doing it for himself as well. Doing what he loves, his way. He talked of how it’s been a whirlwind, the first years were hard, as they are on any artist, but harder on young ones.
Fame takes a toll on most, we’ve seen that. Social Media shines hard on our young musicians. It’s important for them to have a strong family core, a good team, good friends, a solid entourage that cares about the performer and the performance. I feel like Cody has that. He’s on the right track and its brilliant. I think it’s so cool that he’s paired up with #Uno for this tour.
The evening was a memorable one for us. Now when we play #Uno from now on my daughter and I will be thinking of this phenomenal Vip experience. Of course we will be singing Cody Simpson songs too, driving the rest of my children and husband crazy.
It was a classy evening, with the classic game #Uno, and a classy young man full of promise. Thank you Mattel for our positively lovely evening. Remember to follow Cody on his world tour with the #UnoAnytime hashtag.
I would love to see Cody get his own authentic #UnoAnytime set of cards with photos of him as the wildcards. I bet they would sell like crazy!
I will be following along for the fun and of course to keep score. No competitiveness here at all. Be sure to check out @Uno on instagram for the backstage fun!
